MENA revolutions inspired by Iran

Washington’s Friday Prayers leader says that the recent uprisings in the Middle East and North Africa have been modeled on Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

“Whatever we see today in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Bahrain, Yemen and other Muslim countries is inspired by Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution,” Imam Muhammad al-Asi said in his pre-sermon speech at Tehran’s Friday Prayers.

He noted that the firm stance of the Iranian nation against oppression and hardships has not only benefited Islamic Iran, but it has also been beneficial for other Muslim countries.

“Mottos similar to the ones chanted by Iranians many years ago against the oppressors can now be heard in the Islamic Awakening of Muslim countries across the world,” al-Asi added.

He added that as God has promised in the holy Qur’an the pious people will replace the oppressors on Earth.

“We should execute the God’s orders as brought in the holy Qur’an in our societies,” al-Asi said.
