Meshaal arrives in Gaza for Palestinians’ victory rally

Hamas political leader Khaled Meshaal has arrived in Gaza to join the Palestinians’ victory rally following the recent Israeli air offensive against the coastal enclave.

Meshaal, who was in Gaza for the first time in 45 years on Friday, hailed the Palestinians’ “heroic achievement” against Israel, saying, “I hope my fourth birthday will be liberation of Palestine,” he added.

Meshaal was received by the democratically-elected Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniya, who described the leader’s visit as “a historic event.”
