Meshaal: PA bid for statehood in UN ignores Palestinian nation as main power

The Palestinian nation as the main power has been ignored in the Palestinian Authority (PA) bid for statehood in UN, the Head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Khaled Meshaal said on Saturday.

He made the remark in his address to the 5th International Conference on the Palestinian Intifada in Tehran.

He noted that the Palestinian Authority bid for statehood in UN is far from the Palestinian groups’ strategy against the continued occupation of Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime.

He admired the Islamic Republic of Iran and its The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei for their firm support for the Palestinian resistance.

“Palestinian Intifada will win thanks to the support of Muslim nations. The whole historical territory of Palestine will be lieberated in the near future. The today’s realities of the world and the Zionist regime’s 60-year long criminal record have forced us to pursue resistance in the struggle for the freedom of occupied lands,” he stated.

Since Arabic-Islamic heritage and demographic structrues of Bait-ul-Moqaddas are being changed by the Zionist regime and all compromise and negotiations with the Zionists ahve proved to be fruitless, resistance is the only way to protect the Palestinians’ interests and rights, Meshaal added.

He stressed that Islamic Awakening has strengthened the Palestinians’ power of resistance to Tel-Aviv.

The high-ranking Hamas official expressed hope that Arab leaders and Palestinian activists would find a better understanding of the situation and strengthen resistance to occupation.

The 5th International Conference on the Palestinian Intifada with participation of parliamentary delegations including several speakers, leading political figures and scholars from 50 Islamic and non-Islamic countries as well as leaders of several Palestinian groups opened in Tehran Saturday morning.

The two-day conference is focusing on the motto of “Palestine, a land only for Palestinians”.

Acting Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmud Abbas presented a Palestinian request for UN membership in this year’s UN General Assembly meeting.

According to the bid, the future Palestinian state would include the West Bank and Gaza, with East al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.

The Zionist regime and the US strongly ahve opposed the Palestinian Authority move.
