Humanitarian situation in Gaza Strip worsening: Report

The humanitarian situation in the besieged Gaza Strip is worsening as scores of bodies are under rubble amid Israel’s unrelenting attacks on the blockaded area, Press TV reports.

According to the report, the dead bodies under rubble have intensified water and power crises in the blockaded territory.

The report said that the dead bodies under rubble can be the source of numerous diseases as the area is highly populated.

Hot weather in Gaza at this time of the year and lack of appropriate facilities for keeping the dead bodies have deteriorated the situation there, the report added.

It further noted that ice cream fridges are used for keeping the dead bodies as refrigerators in hospitals are full.

Hospitals in Gaza are in desperate need of help, including medicines and equipment. Israel imposed an all-out land, aerial, and naval blockade on Gaza in June 2007. The siege has had a disastrous impact on the humanitarian and economic situation in the impoverished enclave.

The Tel Aviv regime has been pounding numerous sites inside the besieged Gaza Strip and killing innocent residents of the impoverished Palestinian enclave since July 8.

The air, sea and land strikes have so far killed nearly 1,840 Palestinians and injured over 9,300 others.

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, has been launching retaliatory attacks against Israel.

Israeli sources have confirmed the deaths of nearly 70 soldiers. However, Hamas says the toll is over 150.
