A Syrian military expert underlined that although militants will go into a ceasefire with the Syrian army, the truce will end up in Damascus favor as government forces have won most of the strategic regions in Northern Syria.

“Under the current conditions that the battle in the Eastern part of Aleppo province is approaching its end, the implementation of ceasefire will lead to the victory for army in Aleppo,” military strategies expert Brigadier General Ali Maqsoud told FNA on Wednesday.

He pointed to the Syrian army’s military gains in Aleppo, and said, “The international road which connected the Aleppo province to the Eastern provinces, specially Raqqa, was cut off to the ISIL after the Syrian army won back the thermal power plant and about 30 towns and their surrounding villages.”

Hence, he said, the government troops are now in control over the entire strategic regions in Aleppo and the ceasefire can no way help the terrorists.

In a relevant development earlier today, the Syrian Army troops and their popular allies drove the militant groups back from their defense lines in a strategic village on the main supplying route of government forces Southeast of Aleppo.

The Syrian army and the National Defense Forces’ operation to reopen the Ithriya-Khanaser road ended in the liberation of the villages of Rasm al-Nafal in the Southeastern part of Aleppo province.

The terrorist groups of Jund al-Aqsa and Free Syrian Army (FSA) left behind dozens of the dead or wounded members and fled the battlefield.

Liberation of Rasm al-Nafal will guarantee the security of the small town of Shalaleh al-Kabireh in a long chunk of Ithriya-Khanaser road.

The Syrian government forces have launched another operation to free Khanaser too.

The Syrian Army announced on Tuesday that its soldiers and their popular allies launched a new phase of large-scale operation to drive back the militant groups from the surroundings of the main supply line of the government forces from Hama to Aleppo.

“The Syrian army troops and the National Defense Forces, who captured a number of checkpoints along the Ithriya-Khanaser road, have launched a massive joint operation in both provinces of Hama and Aleppo to end the ISIL and Jund al-Aqsa’s control over chunks of the strategic road,” the army said.

“The Syrian Air Force and artillery units have provided very good coverage for the ground forces,” the army added.
