Millions of Iranians rally to mark revolution

Millions of Iranians participated in massive rallies throughout Iran on Thursday to celebrate the 31st anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

In Tehran, the demonstrators shouting “Death to America”, gathered at Azadi (Freedom) Square in western Tehran where President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is expected to make a speech.

Women and children are carrying banners reading “Death to America! Death to Israel!” as they headed to Azadi Square to mark the day.

More than thousand of foreign media are also allowed to cover the street marches.
