Lawmakers representing religious minorities in Iran’s parliament will accompany President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during his upcoming visit to New York.
Ahmadinejad will leave Tehran for the US on September 22 to attend the 64th session of the UN General Assembly, Fars news agency reported on Wednesday.
The Iranian president will deliver a speech to the General Assembly on September 24.
This would be the first time that all the five lawmakers representing religious minorities in the Majlis (parliament) will accompany the president on his visit to the UN headquarters.
Traditionally, only one of the lawmakers accompanied the Iranian President on his visit to New York.
