Mishaal-Abbas meeting on 20/6 to endorse gov’t line-up

Leaders of Hamas and Fatah Khaled Mishaal and Mahmoud Abbas are to meet in Cairo on 20 June to finalize the unity government’s line-up, officials of both factions said.

The announcement was made in an Egyptian intelligence statement on Wednesday night at the end of a third meeting for both factions under their patronage.

The statement described the atmosphere in all meetings as “positive and fruitful”, adding that they both agreed on activating the Palestinian legislative council.

Both movements approved inviting Egypt to follow up work of the freedoms committee and the social reconciliation committee in both Gaza Strip and the West Bank in a bid to accelerate their work.
