More demos in Great Satan US against black teen murder

Thousands of American protesters have taken to streets in the city of Philadelphia to demand justice for the recent killing of an unarmed black teenage boy in the state of Florida.

Protesters staged the demonstration named “Million Hoodie Marches” late Friday in Memory of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was shot dead on February 26 by watch guard George Zimmerman.

The massive demonstration followed similar protest rallies in Florida and New York. On Thursday, up to 20,000 people rallied in the Florida town of Sanford, where Martin was killed, to voice their support for his family.

Tens of thousands also attended a similar march in New York City on Wednesday, while another massive rally is planned for Sunday in the Californian city of Los Angeles. Over a million signatures have also been collected on line, calling for justice.

Protesters, mainly African Americans, say the killing manifests the unjust treatment of the large black community in the country.

Zimmerman said he acted in self-defense and was later released by Sanford Police Department.

Critics also say the murder was racially motivated. Trayvon’s case has heightened tensions with the African-American community in the US.
