More rockets continue to penetrate Israel’s Iron Dome

372356_Iron-DomeThe Israeli regime’s US-funded missile system has once again proved quite permeable as more Palestinian rockets penetrate the Israeli skies without being intercepted by the so-called Iron Dome.

A volley of rockets fired on Tuesday by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas activated sirens in the cities of Ashdod, Eshkol, Beer Ganim, Be’er Sheva, Nitzan and Nitzanim.

Several people were reportedly injured as the projectiles caused fire in some cities upon impact.

Hamas has said it will step up its attacks on Israel, using new and more powerful missiles.

The failure of the highly-publicized missile system has sparked panic among Israelis.

The Iron Dome is a short-range rocket defense system designed to intercept rockets and artillery shells fired from a range of between four and 70 kilometers.

In 2013, Congress allocated $235 million for the Iron Dome. And the Obama administration had requested about $176 million for the system for 2015, but the Senate panel doubled the amount.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military confirmed that 27 soldiers have been killed since it launched a ground incursion into Gaza on Thursday. Some 130 Israeli troopers have also been injured, six of them in critical condition. One of the injured is Colonel Roy Levy, the commander of the Golani Brigade’s reconnaissance unit.

Top Hamas leader in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh has vowed that the besieged Palestinian territory will turn into “a graveyard for Israeli soldiers,” who have been committing crimes against Gazans over the past 15 days.

At least 611 Palestinians have been killed and over 3,600 others injured since the start of the Israeli offensive on July 8.
