Taqrib News Agency (TNA): Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in Cairo visited Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, discussing ways to enhance bilateral ties between the two Muslim nations and standing challenges in the region.

The talks mainly focused on the latest developments in the region, including the Syrian crisis. Given that, the political analyst, Ardeshir Sanaei in an exlusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) delineated the aims and goals of such trip and visit.

“At this time the position of the two countries toward Syria crisis is literally obvious,” the political commentator underscored.

“Undoubtedly, the standing chaos in Syria was one of the important issues discussed by the two countries,” Ardeshir Sanaei mentioned.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran during the 22 month of chaos in Syria always announced its support from the government of Damascus, while Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi has underscored the necessity of ousting Bashar Asad,” the political analyst mentioned.

He pointed to the recent positions Egypt President chose against the government of Syria and said, “Morsi underscored that Basshar Asad should be condemned as a criminal war; given that it is unlikely that Islamic Republic of Iran and Egypt come to agreement in this area.”

“It would seem on the face of it, that the perspective of Morsi toward Syria is more of a conservative and realistic one rather than ideological,” the political analyst underscored.

Sanaei went on, “during the 22 month of civil war, Syria witnessed demonstrations in favor of and against the government of Assad.”

“The civil war in this country left 60 thousand dead and we should not expect other countries not having realistic policy,” he mentioned.

“Egypt wants to play a key role in the future in the region, so the country’s President, up to here, has tried to play effective role in the negotiations and dialogues among Arab, Israel, Gaza and also in the issue of Syria Crisis,” the political commentator underscored.

It is nice to know that “Morsi wants to gain effective role beyond the foresaid areas and aimed at entering in the realm of security issues in the Persian Gulf and negotiate with the countries in the region,” Sanaei underlined.

The political analyst underscored that in the meeting Ali Akbar Salehi underscored, first of all, the attempts of Islamic Republic of Iran for increasing cooperation with other countries in the region.

He went on, “at this time Islamic Republic of Iran is going thought many hardships and sanctions, so cooperation of this country with other countries can neutralize the negative effects of sanctions imposed on this country.”

The political analyst underscored that the second aim of Iran Foreign Ministerwas solving the standing problems in the Islamic World.

Sanaei went on,” At this time, Islamic Republic of Iran came up with this result that the problems and challenges in the Islamic World can be solved by the help of important and key role countries in the region such as Egypt.”

The political commentator underscored that in this meeting Iran welcomed any step taken from this country (Egypt) for fulfilling the foresaid aim.
