Mother of Qassam commander dies

Hajjah Rahima al-Deif, mother of the general commander of the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, died Friday morning aged 71 after a month long struggle with illness.

The funeral took place Friday afternoon from the Bilal Mosque in Khan Younis with participation of a number of government officials and other leading figures.

Al Qassam Brigades sent condolences to its general commander Mohammed Deif in a statement bublished on its official website.

Deif is number one on the Israeli occupation wanted list, very little is known about him or his whereabouts as the occupation tried several times to assassinate him killing 20 innocent Palestinians during those attempts.
