Mottaki: Arrogant countries losing power

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki says the opposition of some UN Security Council members to the anti-Iran resolution hints that the arrogant states are losing power.

“We have sent a letter of protest to the countries favoring the anti-Iran UN resolution, and challenged their vote with our evidence-backed, logical arguments,” Mottaki said.

The foreign minister went on to say that the main reason for issuing this anti-Iran resolution was to discourage Iranian people.

“However, we realized the political game of the masterminds behind the resolution and took necessary measures to counter their attempts,” IRNA quoted Mottaki as saying.

“The economic boom in the country in recent years is the result of the resistance of Iranian people and indicated that the approval of such resolutions will have no impact on the economic growth of Iran.”

On June 9, the UNSC adopted Resolution 1929, thereby imposing a fourth round of sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program.

Tehran rejects Western accusations that it intends to develop nuclear weapons, and has asserted that Iran’s nuclear capabilities are only aimed at peaceful purposes.
