MP Blasts West’s Silence on Pakistan Shiite Killings

A1134482An Iranian lawmaker lambasted the western states for their silence on the death of a large group of Pakistani citizens in the recent terrorist attacks in the country, and urged the world bodies to take the necessary actions to stop violence in Pakistan.

The West remains silent on the massacre of Shiites in order to promote the plan to create a rift among Shiite and Sunni Muslims, Rapporteur of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini said on Friday.

He further pointed to the recent massacre of Shiites in the city of Quetta in the Southwestern Pakistan and said this ominous phenomenon is not limited to Pakistan and the agents of the global arrogance promote it in other Muslim countries.

A suicide-bomb targeting Shiite Hazaras in a busy market in Pakistan’s restive Southwest killed at least 81 people including women and children and wounded 200 others.

The powerful bomb in a water tanker ripped through a packed bazaar near Hazara town, an area dominated by Shiites on the outskirts of Quetta, capital of oil and gas rich Balochistan province, at around 6:00 pm (local time) on last Saturday.

The bomb was attached to a motorcycle outside a crowded vegetable market in Quetta, and targeted the area’s Shiite community.

Several houses and shops were completely destroyed by the blast. Security officials said that an estimated 100 kilograms of explosives was used in the attack.
