Multiple explosions kill 4 women in south Afghanistan

Two women and two teenage girls have been killed in two bomb blasts in Afghanistan’s southern province of Kandahar.

Local Afghan authorities said the first attack took place in Kandahar’s Spin Boldak district, killing a woman and her two daughters.

Another woman was also killed in an explosion in Panjwayi district.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks yet, but local authorities have blamed the Taliban militants for the the attacks.

Bomb explosions and improvised explosive devices are by far the most lethal weapons Taliban militants use against Afghan forces, foreign troops, and civilians.

The Taliban recently announced the start of their annual “spring offensive” across Afghanistan and vowed to increase their attacks on US-led troops stationed in the country as well as Afghan forces.

The attacks came after a series of airstrikes carried out by US forces left at least 65 people dead in Afghanistan’s Paktia Province on Sunday night.

Hundreds of civilians have been killed in US-led airstrikes and ground operations in various parts of Afghanistan over the past few months, with Afghans growing increasingly outraged over the seemingly endless number of deadly assaults.

The rising death toll for Afghan civilians as a result of NATO and US military operations in the country has increased tension between President Karzai and his Western allies.

The US-led war in Afghanistan removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan, despite the presence of thousands of US-led troops there.

The United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan in 2001 as part of the so-called war on terror. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity remains across the country.
