Muslims prepare to welcome Holy Ramadan

Muslims in Iran and other countries are preparing to welcome the holy month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, when they fast from dawn to dusk.

Iranians welcome the holy month of Ramadan with special ceremonies such as cleaning religious centers and mosques, since they are packed with fasting Muslims who try to spend their time praying and getting closer to God.

Muslims begin Ramadan based on the physical sighting of the moon which is usually confirmed by religious authorities.

Ramadan is an auspicious month for the revelations of God to humankind. It is the month in which the first verses of the holy Qur’an were revealed to the Last Messenger of Allah, Hadrat Muhammad (PBUH).
