Muslims stage anti-US rally in Ukraine

A large number of Muslim residents and students have staged a rally in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, to condemn the desecration of the Holy Qur’an in the US.

The rally was held despite Kiev’s rainy and unfavorable weather conditions on Monday.

Protesters chanted slogans against US and Israel in front of the US embassy.

They submitted a protest letter addressed to US ambassador in Ukraine.

Prior to this year’s anniversary of the September 11 attacks, an extremist Florida pastor, Terry Jones, officially declared that he would set the Qur’an on fire, but he was forced to call off his decision after he faced strong international condemnation.

Yet, some anti-Islam extremists burned pages of the Muslims’ holy book on the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks, facing no police intervention or reaction whatsoever.

The insulting move triggered angry protests across the world, particularly in Muslim nations.
