NAM Palestine committee to discuss Gaza situation

373863_Zarif-IranThe Palestine Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) will hold a meeting in the Iranian capital, Tehran, to discuss ways to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, says Iran’s foreign minister.

Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Sunday that the one-day meeting on Monday would host foreign ministers of the member states of the committee.

Countries such as Algeria, Bangladesh, Cuba, Egypt, India, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia, Palestine, Zimbabwe, Indonesia and Malaysia are members of the NAM Palestine committee.

The Iranian foreign minister called on the international community to act and put an immediate end to the ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestinians in Gaza.

He added that the crimes committed by the Israeli regime in the blockaded enclave should be pursued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague and the UN Human Rights Council.

The development comes as Israeli warplanes and tanks have been pounding numerous sites inside the besieged Gaza Strip and killing innocent residents of the impoverished Palestinian enclave since July 8.

More than 1,700 Palestinians have been killed and over 9,100 others injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza. Nearly 400 children are among the fatalities.
