NATO-led air strike kills 20 in Afghanistan

A NATO-led air strike in Afghanistan’s northern province of Baghlan has killed up to 20 people.

The Western military alliance claimed in a statement that the dead were all militants.

NATO forces had to call in air support after coming under attack from what they allege was a large number of militants.

The alliance says its forces were attacked by militants using rockets and machine-guns.

The incident happened along an important supply route for foreign troops in Afghanistan.

NATO air strikes against suspected Taliban militants have killed hundreds of civilians in different parts of Afghanistan over the past few months.
