Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said due to negligence of a certain group the holy Eid al-Adha ceremony turned into a mourning period because of the tragic incident in Mina.

The Supreme Leader made the remarks at a joint commencement ceremony for the graduates of the Iranian Army’s military academies in the city of Noshahr in northern Mazandaran Province on Wednesday.

The Ayatollah said the readiness of armed forces does not solely mean they can overcome their enemies in wars but rather it implies their power to safeguard the country from the evil intentions of enemies.

Supreme Leader said no enemy would ever dare take any sinister action if it sees army ready and well equipped.

According to Saudi Arabia’s Deputy of Minister of Health, Mina disaster death toll hits 4173, Al-Alam News Network reports.

Tuesday, Saudi’s Minister of Health Deputy received a photo of 4173 of the pilgrims who lost their lives in Mina disaster.

However later the head of Iran’s Hajj organisation, Said Ohadi, expressed his belief that the number of victims in the Mina stampede incident in Saudi Arabia, which took place on the first day of Eid Al-Adha, reached at least 4,700.

Ohadi in an interview with Iranian TV said that 228 Iranian pilgrims died in Mina, adding that “the number of missing Iranians, with no information about their whereabouts, has reached 248, and we are afraid that the death toll could rise even more.”
