New chapter opens in IRI-LA relations

IRI President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad upon departure for a Latin American tour described the Iranian relations with the LA states as very favorable and progressive, adding the LA nations are similar to the Iranian nation in culture and historical demands.

The president made the remarks upon departing Tehran Sunday morning. He told reporters that the LA nations enjoy an anti-colonial history and follow an anti-colonialist policy nowadays.

IRI President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad left Tehran on Sunday for a Latin American tour that will took him to four LA states of Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba and Ecuador respectively.

“The global hegemony system used to consider the Latin America as its backyard however today the nations have got awakened and make their own independent choice,” he added.

The president lauded Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez as a hero in struggling against colonialism and serving his own people, adding that the Venezuelan movement has been a source of inspiration for many other LA states.

Concerning Nicaragua, the next destination of the tour, the president said Nicaragua has a revolutionary nation, adding that he has planed to join a presidential oath for the second term of the elected president Daniel Ortega.

He said the two nations will sign several cooperation agreements during the tour.

Concerning Cuba, the next country in the tour, the president said the two countries’ authorities will review the international developments and will sign several new cooperation agreements.

As for Ecuador, the final destination, the president described the Ecuadorian president as revolutionary and popular and standing against the hegemony, adding that several mutual agreements were also to be signed in the country.
