News about killing Mullah Omar, contradictory- FM spokesman

The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that the news about the killing of Afghan Taliban’s leader Mullah Mohammad Omar in Pakistan is ‘contradictory.’

Talking to foreign and domestic reporters during his weekly news conference, Ramin Mehmanparast said that there was no definite information on the news yet.

The measures taken against members of the al Qaeda and Taliban pursue certain objectives set by the west and the US in particular, said Mehmanparast.

Releasing such news is in accordance with the new policies taken by the US administration, the spokesman said adding the Unites States is exploiting the regional situation to its own benefit.

Asked to comment on the return of the Iranian and Kuwaiti envoys to their respective embassies in the two countries, Mehmanparast said the Iranian ambassador to Kuwait City has started his mission there.

He further said Iran is waiting for the ambassador of the other side to do so in Tehran.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman said this issue shows that the recent visits of Iran’s Salehi to regional countries have been of ‘positive outcomes.’
