Nine mass graves discovered in Iraq’s Sinjar

At least nine mass graves, containing the bodies of Izadi Kurds killed by the ISIL Takfiri militants, have been found in Iraq.

A senior Kurdish official in the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region said on Tuesday that the graves were discovered in the northwestern town of Sinjar.

The victims were all believed to be members of the Izadi Kurd community, which has particularly been targeted by ISIL terror group, said Khairy Buzani, director of Izadi Affairs in Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

He added that the graves contain the remains of Izadi victims killed by the terrorist ISIL militants.

This comes as the Kurdish forces known as the Peshmerga have recently retaken large parts of Sinjar from the ISIL militants. The forces are also attempting to fully recapture the militant-held areas in a bid to cut off a main supply route for the ISIL between the Syrian border and Mosul.

The militant group has been in control of Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city, since June.

The Takfiri militants control swathes of land in Iraq and Syria and have been carrying out horrific acts of violence, including public decapitations and crucifixions, against all Iraqi communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.

A large number of mass graves have been discovered in Iraq and Syria over the past months.

Senior Iraqi and Syrian officials have blamed Saudi Arabia, Qatar and some Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their counties.

The terrorist group has links with Saudi intelligence and is believed to be indirectly supported by the Israeli regime.
