Nuclear talks to write comprehensive deal open

The first round of nuclear talks in the aftermath of the framework agreement struck on February 2 started on Wednesday afternoon.

Iran’s senior member of negotiating team Abbas Araqchi and Deputy chief of EU foreign policy Helga Schmidt initiated negotiations.

Deputy Foreign Minister in Euro-American Affairs Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi and Director General for political and international security Affairs Hamid Baeedinejad as well as other experts of the negotiating team took part.

Deputy foreign ministers, directors general of Group 5+1 including Britain, France, Germany, US, Russia and China are to join the negotiations on Friday.

The Vienna talks will be in three days and Iranian negotiating team will return Tehran on Friday and will go to New York accompanying Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Saturday.

The nuclear talks will be followed on the sidelines of meeting on review on Non-Proliferation Treaty in New York.

Head of the US negotiating team in Vienna is Wendy Sherman.

In addition to her, Obama special advisor and the White House coordinator for the Middle East, North Africa and the Persian Gulf Affairs Robert Mali, senior advisor to deputy US Secretary of States in arsenal control James Timby and director of non-proliferation center of the US National Security Council Powel Irvine are attending the talks.

Deputy head of US State Department office coordinating sanctions policies Christopher Bekmir will come to Vienna.

It is said that his presence in Vienna would be useful in case of terminating the sanctions entirely.
