Yemeni Army Continues to Hunt Saudi Spy Drones

The Yemeni Army and popular forces shot down a Saudi spy drone flying over Ma’arib province in Western Yemen.

The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was brought down after it was intercepted over the strategic Sirwah region in Ma’arib province.

Local security sources said that the Saudi drone was on a surveillance mission, taking images of the Yemeni Army and Ansarullah’s facilities.

No further detail has been released on the downed spy drone.

In a relevant development in December, the Yemeni forces shot down a Saudi Apache helicopter in the kingdom’s Southern Najran Province in fresh counterattacks in response to Riyadh’s deadly military aggression.

The chopper was brought down as it was attacking positions held by the Yemeni fighters, the Arabic-language Al Masirah news channel reported.

The report further noted that the Yemeni forces destroyed an Abrams tank and killed five Saudi soldiers in Najran’s Qiyadah military base.

The Yemeni Army and Ansarullah fighters have shot down several Saudi-owned UAVs across the country since the beginning of the Saudi-led invasion against the impoverished country.

In late January, the Yemeni military forces also reported they had shot down a spy drone over Jizan province.

In mid-October, the Yemeni military forces also reported they had shot down a spy drone over Jizan province.
