Iran Asks for Rigid Efforts to Stop Extremism, Sectarian Divides in Region

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, in a meeting with UAE Prime Minister Muhammad bin Rashid Al-Maktum in Dubai on Wednesday, underlined the need for a tough confrontation against extremism and sectarian strife in the region.
The Iranian foreign minister pointed to the rising concerns over the spread of terrorism and extremism in the region, and said, “We should prevent the spread of this ominous phenomenon with the help of each other.”
According to FNA, Zarif said that President Hassan Rouhani’s administration has given a priority to the Persian Gulf region in its foreign policy agenda, and underlined that stability and tranquility of each of the regional nations is tantamount to the stability and tranquility of Iran.
The Emirati prime minister, for his part, voiced pleasure in the recent agreement between Iran and the six world powers (the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany) in Geneva, and said, “We perceive a positive outlook for the future and we can boost the trade volume between the two countries.”

Sheikh Muhammad underlined that the UAE has always had good and stable relations with Iran, and said, “We should try to consolidate these relations by removing any possible obstacle” that might stand in the way of the expansion of the two states.
