The Israeli air force targeted a Syrian army site in Quneitra after launching artillery attack on the Golan Heights on Wednesday.

The Israeli warplanes targeted a site in Tal al-Shaar in Quneitra, causing no casualties. This came in conjunction with a violent attack launched by the terrorist organizations on Hadar town in the same province.

The Syrian army units clashed with the terrorists who had attacked in large numbers, which resulted in killing scores of the militants, most of them affiliated to the al-Nusra Front (recently renamed to Fatah al-Sham Front), and in destroying their vehicles, some of which equipped with heavy machineguns.

Meanwhile, the general command of the army and armed forces announced that an Israeli warplane launched an attack on one of the military sites in Quneitra on Wednesday, destroying a cannon and damaging another.

“This attack comes after the success of our armed forces, in cooperation with popular defense groups in thwarting a wide attack carried out by Jabhat al-Nusra (al-Nusra Front) terrorist organization on Hadar and its surroundings in Quneitra, killing tens of terrorists and inflicting heavy losses on them in arms and equipment ,” the statement said on Wednesday.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Israeli forces had attacked a Syrian military position in Golan Heights.

The Israeli army did not hide its artillery attack on Syria, but claimed that it had earlier been hit by a shell that had gone astray.

“In response to the projectile which hit Israel earlier today, the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) targeted an artillery position of the Syrian regime in the northern Syrian Golan Heights,” a statement said, AFP reported.

The rocket was believed to be stray fire from fighting between the Syrian government forces and rebels, it claimed.

It caused no casualties, the army said, and was “most likely a result of the internal fighting in Syria”.

The Israeli Army says it holds the Syrian government accountable for any fire from its territory, regardless of the source, but it never explains then why it helps the Nusra Front terrorists and treats wounded militants at its hospitals.

Israel seized 1,200 square kilometers (460 square miles) of the Golan from Syria in the Six-Day War of 1967 and later annexed it in a move never recognized by the international community.
