OIC must hold emergency session on Israel’s raids on Gaza: Iran MP

An Iranian lawmaker slams international and Muslim bodies for their “meaningful silence” on Israel’s deadly attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip, calling for an emergency session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

“Saudi Arabia, which holds the presidency of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, should set up an emergency session of the organization,” a member of the Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy Mohammad Hassan Asafari told IRNA on Saturday.

It seems that international organizations have closed their eyes to Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, he added.

Bodies that claim to defend human rights have so far remained silent on the Israeli regime’s criminal acts in Gaza and refrained from issuing even one statement in condemnation of Tel Aviv’s crimes, the Iranian legislator pointed out.

Asafari emphasized that defeating the resistance line and exerting pressure on the Palestinians are the main objectives of the Israeli regime’s airstrikes against Gaza.

At least 41 Palestinians have been killed since the Israeli airstrikes against the besieged territory began on Wednesday.

Ahmed al-Ja’abari, the popular and influential head of the Hamas military wing, the Ezzedeen al-Qassam Brigades, was assassinated in an Israeli attack on his car last Wednesday.

On Friday, Ahmed Abu Jalal, a field commander of the Ezzedeen al-Qassam Brigades, was also killed in an Israeli airstrike on the central Gaza district of Maghazi.
