n00229158-b

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mostafa Hosseini, head of the Quranic Affairs Center of the Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Organization, told IQNA that the contest is slated for May 11-17.

He said the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayers hall) in Tehran will host the week-long event.
According to the official, as well as the main motto, there will be a motto for each day of the competition.

One of them will be “One Ummah in Mourning for a Disaster”, he said, noting that it will commemorate the Quranic figures who lost their lives in last year’s disaster in mina, Saudi Arabia, during Hajj.

Other themes include the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Islamic Awakening, and Islamic resistance, he stated.
Hojat-ol-Islam Hosseini added that there will be a number of programs on the sidelines of the competition, including an exhibition.

Iran’s international Quran contest is annually organized by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the participation of top Qaris and memorizers.

The event brings together participants from almost all Islamic countries, providing a unique opportunity for people from different races across the continents to assemble in a display of unity.
