One killed, 5 wounded in Bahrain attacks

8e8a3cf782e92523f532332a3eb4ecf1_LTwo separate bomb attacks have killed at least one policeman and injured five others outside the Bahraini capital, Manama.

According to the Bahraini Interior Ministry and police officials, the attacks took place on late Saturday.
Bahrain’s public security said in a statement released by the official BNA news agency that the first attack took place at a police station in a Shia village in Sitra.
General Tariq Hasan said the bomb attack has “killed policeman Yasser Dhaib and wounded two others.”
The second incident occurred in the Shia village of Janabiya after a security patrol was attacked, leaving three policemen injured, the interior ministry said.
Since mid-February 2011, thousands of pro-democracy protesters have staged numerous demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, calling for the Al Khalifa royal family to relinquish power.
The Bahraini government promptly launched a brutal crackdown on peaceful protests and called in Saudi-led Arab forces from neighboring states.
Dozens of Bahraini people have been killed in the crackdown, and security forces have arrested hundreds, including doctors, and nurses who had treated injured revolutionaries.
Bahrainis say they will continue holding demonstrations until their demand for the establishment of a democratically elected government is met.
A report published by the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry in November 2011 found that the Al Khalifa regime had used excessive force in the crackdown and accused Manama of torturing political activists, politicians, and protesters.
