More than 550 Iranian reporters, journalists and photojournalists have signed a petition to show their solidarity with the people of Gaza in their resistance against the Israeli regime’s atrocities.

The savage crimes of the Zionists in the oppressed Gaza, outrage and massacre of the defenseless Palestinians under the silence of the West and shameless Arab leaders displayed another episode of the shameless western civilization to the world public opinion, the Iranian journalists said in their petition.

The Iranian reporters and journalists voiced their preparedness to represent the Muslim and free Iranian nation in Gaza to cover the huge, catastrophic dimensions of the oppression and aggression which is taking place against the people of Gaza and the human tragedy caused by the Zionists crimes.

Muslim nations, including Iranians, from all walks of life have taken action to show their wrath and intolerance against Israel’s barbaric crimes against the Gazans.

Last night, Tehran University Professors, staff and students blasted the UN secretary-general for his inaction vis-a-vis Israel’s ongoing atrocities and massacre of the Palestinians in Gaza, and urged Ban Ki-moon to comply with his duty as the head of the world body to stop Tel Aviv’s ongoing bloodshed in the besieged enclave.

“It has now been nearly four weeks that the small blockaded and helpless land of Gaza is being destroyed through the vicious and inhumane forces of an occupying regime,” the academics, personnel and students of Tehran University said in a statement.

“This devastating attack from the air, from the sea by naval ships relentlessly firing bombs and rockets, and from land by artillery and armored vehicles, has resulted in an enormous number of innocent men, women, and especially children, being critically wounded and killed,” it continued.

The statement further reminded the UN chief of his responsibilities, and urged him to comply with his duties.

“Mr. Ban Ki-moon, due to your important responsibility, you are held accountable to end these events.”

“Do you not see the obvious violation of international conventions and treaties?

“Do you not see this wild and barbaric attack as a clear example of genocide?

“Do you not believe that the long lasting blockade of a nation under such harsh conditions is an inhumane act?

“Do you not believe that issuing useless or inadequate Security Council statements along with your biased remarks enable the prolonging of this crime,” it asked sarcastically.

“You must bear responsibility for the position that you occupy. Nations find your actions to be unacceptable. It is essential that this genocide be stopped in any way possible and the captive Palestinian nation be returned its principal rights. We expect action. We demand action. What, sir, are you prepared to do,” the statement asked in conclusion.

Israeli warplanes have been pounding numerous sites in the Gaza Strip since July 8, demolishing houses and burying families under the rubble. Israeli forces also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.

The Palestinian death toll in Israel’s onslaught on Gaza has now reached nearly 1,730, with over 9,100 people injured. Most of the casualties have been civilians, including a large number of women and children.

Meantime, over 400,000 of Gazans, nearly one out of four, have been displaced as a result of the recent aggressions made by Israeli forces against the besieged enclave.
