PA extended the arrest of Quds Press reporter for 15 days

The Magistrate’s Court in Nablus extended the arrest of Quds Press correspondent in Nablus Mohamed Anwar Mona, 30, for 15 days, and prevented his family from attending the court hearing.

Quds Press news agency quoted the journalist’s family as saying that Mona’s renewal arrest decision was taken in few minutes before his lawyer’s arrival to the court, preventing his family to enter the court without justification.

The family added that many detainees left the court in very short time after renewing their detention for 15 days, without speaking to the judge or even sitting in the courtroom.

The family confirmed that the detainees’ charges file was not presented at the court, adding that his name was not on the list of detainees submitted to the court.

Mohammed Mona, Quds Press reporter, was arrested by PA security forces in Nablus in the northern West Bank after being summoned to report to Preventive Security Service in the city last Sunday.

The journalist Mohamed Mona was arrested in April by the occupation authorities where he works as Quds Press reporter since 2011.

Quds press international news agency, based in London, expressed its concern over the arrest of its reporter, holding the PA responsible for his life, and calling for his release.

Several international human rights organizations denounced the arrest of the journalist Mohammed Mona, considering it as “an arbitrary and unjustified political arrest”, calling on the PA to treat him according to the law and to release him immediately.
