Thousands of Pakistani students have taken to streets in the country’s most populous metropolitan city of Karachi to condemn Israeli military strikes against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

On Tuesday, Pakistani students from public and private schools as well as seminaries took part in a demonstration organized by the political party Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan in a show of solidarity with innocent Palestinian children.

They carried banners and chanted slogans to denounce the Israeli massacre of Gazans.

Thousands of Pakistanis staged a rally in the capital, Islamabad, on Sunday against Israel’s deadly war on the Gaza Strip, which has left hundreds of Palestinian civilians dead.

Chanting anti-Israel slogans, the protesters expressed their support for the Palestinian people. The demonstration was organized by Jamaat-e-Islami party.

Thousands of people have staged rallies around the world in condemnation of the Israeli military strikes against Palestinians in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

More than 1,940 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have lost their lives and nearly 10,000 have been wounded since the Israeli military unleashed fatal assaults on the densely-inhabited strip on July 8.

Latest estimates show that nearly 470 Palestinian children have been killed in the attacks. Children also make up almost one-third of the injured.

The Israeli military says around 65 Israelis have died in the conflict, but the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas puts the number at more than 150.

A 72-hour ceasefire took effect at 2100 GMT on Sunday, following an agreement made after indirect talks between representatives from Hamas and Israel in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
