The newly released Mohamed Allan affirmed that hunger strike was an effective way for imposing prisoners’ will on Israeli jailers.

In a press conference held in Nablus on Thursday, Allan said that individual hunger strike proved that it is the sole option to end administrative detention policy.

The Palestinian detainee Mohammad Allan, 31, was released Wednesday from Ofer jail after going on 65 consecutive days of hunger strike.

Allan pointed out that his hunger strike was in protest against his administrative detention, according to which he was held without trial or charge.

He revealed that he will undergo medical tests in the near future to check on his health condition after he was engaged in a hunger strike for more than two months.

He hailed the Palestinian prisoners’ protest steps in support of his hunger strike and all the Palestinian people’s support at that time.

Allan is a lawyer from Einabous town in Nablus governorate. He waged a 65-day hunger strike in protest against his administrative detention.

The Israeli Supreme Court had previously decided to release detainee Allan after his health condition worsened and reached a serious stage; however, his detention was extended while he was receiving treatment at Barzilai Hospital. Finally an agreement was reached on his release on November 04.
