A Palestinian man has died from complications related to exposure to tear gas fired by Israeli forces three weeks ago, local sources say.

The victim, identified as Muayad Ghazawneh, died in a hospital in the west Bank city of Ramallah on Friday after spending three weeks in an intensive care unit.

The 33-year-old Palestinian man was exposed to tear gas in al-Ram neighborhood of north al-Quds (Jerusalem) after Israeli troops fired tear gas to disperse a group of Palestinian protesters in the area.

According to Ma’an news agency, Ghazawneh was overcome by tear gas after Israeli soldiers fired a tear gas canister into his car. He was not involved in the protest.

Israeli troops frequently attack Palestinian protesters with tear gas and stun grenades. Scores of Palestinians, including children, have been killed due to tear gas inhalation.

In November 2012, a 20-month-old baby was killed after Israeli soldiers fired a tear gas into a house in Ramallah during clashes with Palestinian protesters.
