Palestinian prisoners seeking to win Prisoners of War (POW) status

Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation jails have launched a campaign to win recognition as “prisoners of war” (POW) after Palestine was admitted as a non-member observer at the UN.

The prisoners in a statement published on Tuesday demanded their treatment as POWs and as freedom fighters, who were kidnapped and arbitrarily arrested by occupation.

They said that they were preparing “struggle steps” to demand their treatment as POWs and to reject the military measures and prison laws that violate legitimacy of their national struggle.
