Palestinians damage Zionist Israeli separation barrier

Palestinians use hammers to break through the separation wall in the West Bank village of Bir Nabala on Friday.

Palestinian activists have destroyed two parts of Israeli separation barrier in two villages in the occupied West Bank.

The coordinated incidents took place in the villages of Bir Nabala and Raft in early hours of Friday. In Bir Nabala, located on the other side of Route 443, Palestinians used hammers to break open a hole in the wall, while activists in Rafat (near the Ofer Military Prison) cut through 20 meters of the security fence bordering their village.

The activists also planted the Palestinian national flags in the sites of the incidents. Israel began constructing the barrier in 2002 when the Palestinians had launched their second uprising.

Eighty-five percent of the apartheid wall would be inside the West Bank. Upon completion, the barrier’s total length will be approximately 700 kilometres.

In a non-binding decision in 2004, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) underscored the illegality of parts of the barrier built inside the West Bank. However, Israel has refused to tear it down.
