Palestinians in occupied territories welcome retaliation from Gaza

Warning sirens are sounding every few minutes across Israel, as the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas targeted Israeli cities and open areas with M75 rockets, following a heavy Israeli raid on the costal enclave which has so far claimed dozens of lives.
On Tuesday night, bright lights lit the skies of Jerusalem al-Quds, as 7 rockets were intercepted over the city, another landed in Bet Shemesh, not far from the Israeli Knesset. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been strongly criticized by Palestinians for staying out of the media spotlight and not immediately condemning the Israeli offensive on Gaza, however political analyst Fayaz Abbas claimed that he is applying to international institutions. Israel has dubbed its air campaign on Gaza as “Operation Protective Edge,” saying the offensive comes in response to heavy rocket fire from Gaza’s factions; however Fayaz Abbas explained that the Israeli premier is using this offensive as part of a continuous strategic campaign against Hamas and to score additional points with right wing members of his cabinet. The views in the ever-divided Jerusalem al Quds are mixed following the rockets launched from Gaza to Jerusalem last night, with Jews believing they are being attacked and Palestinians here saying that the people of Gaza are simply defending themselves and continue to suffer under the heavy Israeli bombardment.
