Parliament Speaker Stresses Iran’s Peaceful Policy towards Regional Countries

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani underlined that Iran’s foreign policy is based on peace and friendship with the regional countries.
“We do not have a sense of rivalry with the countries in the region and all regional states are our friends,” Larijani said in a meeting with his Omani counterpart Sheikh Khalid Bin Hilal al-Mawali in Masqat on Thursday.

Meantime, Larijani further underlined that the need for the further expansion of Tehran-Masqat relations, and said, “The two countries share close views on regional issues.”

Al-Mawali, for his part, praised the stable ties between Tehran and Masqat, and said, “Economic relations between the two countries must keep pace with the political relations.”

Last week, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, in separate meetings with the Omani Sultan Qaboos and his Omani counterpart Youssef bin Alawi bin Abdullah in Masqat, reviewed the progress of political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underlined that they attach great importance to the consolidation of Tehran’s relations with the Middle-East countries in order to protect and promote peace and security in the region.
