Chaotic scenes erupt in Kuala Lumpur as relatives of Chinese passengers aboard the missing Malaysian Airlines jet are forcibly prevented from speaking to reporters.

Frustration over the lack of progress in the search for the missing plane erupted Wednesday at a press conference, where Chinese families confronted Malaysian authorities.

The grieving families demanded the officials to “tell the truth” about what happened to the plane that has been missing since last Saturday.

“Everyday I’m confronted by your boring questions, … I’m fed up with it. I know you know we can do nothing but vent our anger and cry, we can do nothing to you. Aside from lying, deceiving, you have been playing the gangster,” media outlets quoted a woman as saying.

International journalists were pushed away from the relatives who were carrying banners criticizing the handling of the case.

The Malaysian government said later it regretted the scenes involving passengers’ relatives.

The developments come as mystery still shrouds the case of the missing Malaysian airliner, as investigators come up with new ideas about its disappearance.

Sources close to investigators now say the missing plane most likely flew into southern Indian Ocean.

The new search area expands from the west of Indonesia, and covers the Indian Ocean west of Australia.

Earlier, officials said somebody on the passenger plane intentionally diverted it, and flew the aircraft on either a northern or a southern route from its last known position.

The Boeing 777 and its 239 passengers and crew went missing on March 8 on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. There is growing frustration among the family members of the missing passengers as search operations drag on.
