Patriarch Laham: Success of Geneva 2 would bring peace to all Arab countries

Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and All the East Gregory III Laham called upon all Islamic spiritual leaderships to exert efforts as to make the international conference on Syria “Geneva 2” a success.

In a statement on Friday, Patriarch Laham said that this call is made from the World Council of Churches in Geneva to which he and other Christian religious figures from the world were invited to take part in a conclave to launch an appeal for ensuring the success of Geneva 2.

He stressed that the success of the Geneva 2 would bring security and peace to the Arab countries, hoping that this call will receive appropriate response from the concerned sides.

Laham called upon Islamic religious figures to launch a similar appeal, asserting that such a show of Christian-Islamic solidarity will have significant impact on participants in the conference and the people of the Arab world, helping to build confidence among them and eliminate sedition and hatred.
