PCHR warns of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza

A human rights organization called on Egyptian authorities to open Rafah border crossing for humanitarian reasons, and to end the suffering of thousands of stranded passengers.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) expressed in a statement its deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, especially in light of the closure of Rafah crossing, which has formed over the past years the only communication channel between Gaza residents and the outside world.

The center pointed out to the difficult conditions witnessed by the Strip, under the policy of collective punishment and the blockade imposed by the Israeli authorities on all crossings surrounding Gaza for the sixth year.

It called on the international community to intervene immediately and exert pressure on the Israeli authorities in order to open all the crossings, to lift the siege on the Gaza Strip, and to stop the policy of collective punishment adopted against the civilians.
