Iran, Iraq determined to help stop violence in region

Iran’s First Vice-President Es-haq Jahangiri on Wednesday called political determination as the prerequisite to end violence in the region, saying Iran and Iraq enjoy such determination.

After a meeting with visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, the vice-president told reporters that good agreements were reached with the prime minister.
On humanitarian crisis in Syria, Jahangiri said that political solution is definitely the only way out the situation in Syria, adding that fueling the conflict does not favor the Syrian nation.
According to FNA, he expressed hope that the upcoming Geneva- 2 conference on Syria would yield good results.
Iraqi prime minister arrived in Tehran Wednesday morning at the head of a high-ranking delegation for a three-day visit to hold talks with senior Iranian officials.
An Iraqi security official, two cabinet ministers and an Iraqi MP are accompanying Prime minister al-Maliki.
This is al-Maliki’s first visit to Tehran after President Hassan Rouhani took office in Iran.

During his stay, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is scheduled to hold separate meetings with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani, chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
