PM Haniyeh: We are not worried about Egypt

images_News_2013_07_05_haneyya01_300_0Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh confirmed that resistance is the sole option for the Palestinian cause, diminishing fears of its future following the Egyptian recent developments.

Haniyeh said he is “monitoring developments” in Gaza’s larger neighbor, and is hopeful relations will endure despite the crisis.

Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh made these comments during the Friday sermon in Bureij Refugee Camp, central Gaza Strip, Friday, July 5, 2013.

“We are not afraid of losing our cause, no fear that our cause will be absent from the Islamic nation’s agenda, despite the difficulties and hard circumstances that sometimes the Islamic nation faces,” Haniyeh said at Friday prayers.

He said that the Palestinian cause is not linked to the changeable circumstances, but it has three dimensions.

The first dimension is ideological and religious that links the nation to the Palestinian issue. The second is the Arab Islamic dimension of the Palestinian cause, while the third is the humanitarian dimension of the Palestinian issue in light the Israeli crimes against Palestinian people, he said.

Gaza and the Palestinian resistance faced the Israeli occupation alone over the past years, while the entire nation was busy with its internal problems. Gaza presented a successful example for the Arab spring revolutions, Haniyeh said.

We will remain steadfast until achieving victory, he added, stressing that they are not worried about Palestinian resistance and Egypt.

He pointed out to the Israeli continued schemes to take over al-Aqsa mosque and the Israeli MKs’ repeated calls to divide Al-Aqsa mosque between Jews and Muslims similar to what they did at the Ibrahimi mosque.

He confirmed that 100 Israeli synagogues were built around the mosque as part of the Israeli plans to Judaize the holy city, calling on Palestinians in 1948- occupied Palestinian territories to intensify their presence in the mosque.

The Palestinian Prime Minister expressed his solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails especially the hunger strikers topped by Abduallah al-Barghouthi.
