Poll shows Obama approval ratings falling

The results of a new poll show that US President Obama’s approval ratings have plunged to 47 percent, marking a six-point drop since his reelection.

The poll results, carried out by Wall Street Journal and NBC News TV channel, were released on Thursday.

With 48 percent of respondents disapproving of Obama’s overall performance, the poll results reflect doubt on his prospects during budget battles with Congress.

Meanwhile, another poll conducted by the joint-group showed that just 31 percent of Americans believe the country is headed in the right direction, marking a 10-point drop since last December.

On Wednesday, US President Barack Obama proposed a USD 3.77 trillion spending blueprint to Congress, which is reportedly billions of dollars higher than the spending caps mandated by the 2011 Budget Control Act.

The 2014 budget proposal is expected to see strong opposition from lawmakers.
