Chairman of the Committee: Our Task is Implementing Regulations and Mechanism for Preventing and Combating Corruption

Chairman of the committee in charge of classifying corruption crimes, Judge Mohammad al-Ghafri, said in an interview with Syrian TV that the committee is tasked with implementing regulations and mechanisms to prevent and combat corruption, which involves issues of integrity, transparency, equality and justice, all of which guarantee combating corruption.

Al-Ghafri stressed that citizens share responsibility in decision-making and implementation, noting that the report was made available to everyone in order to enrich it with ideas and opinions from researchers, relevant figures and citizens.

He pointed out that researchers, specialists and concerned individuals provided material and suggestions that helped form the report, noting that the committee took into consideration the dangerous effects of corruption on developing countries as it hinders the development process.

Al-Ghafri stressed that the report made a clear distinction between small-scale corruption committed by people out of need, and large-scale corruption by senior officials, adding that citizens play a major role in combating corruption by rejecting it and refusing to comply with corrupt people.
