Powers to discuss Iran’s N-program

US State Department spokesman, Philip Crowley, says major world powers are to discuss Iran’s nuclear program in an upcoming meeting.

Crowley noted that the P5+1 group — the US, Britain, Russia, France, China and Germany — will hold a meeting in New York next week to “encourage Iran to come forward and engage constructively with the international community.”

The meeting will be held just over three months after the latest United Nations Security Council sanctions imposed on Iran over its nuclear program.

The West effectively disregarded the Tehran declaration by imposing the fourth round of sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey, and Brazil signed the declaration in the Iranian capital Tehran on May 17, according to which the Islamic Republic would ship 1200 kilograms of its low-enriched uranium to Turkey to be exchanged for 120 kilograms of 20 percent enriched nuclear fuel rods to power the Tehran research reactor, which produces radioisotopes for cancer treatment.

The US-engineered UN sanctions against Iran came as Tehran has repeatedly declared that it will not relinquish the legitimate nuclear rights of the Iranian nation under pressure.
