President Ahmadinejad: Minority plunder wealth of majority

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has lashed out at the minority of world powers for “plundering” the wealth of the majority of nations in order to fulfill their own ‘materialistic’ needs.

“All the problems arise from the injustice of a small number of big powers who are willing to wreak havoc on the entire world in order to fill their own pockets,” said Ahmadinejad on Tuesday, addressing the people of the southern port city of Bandar Abbas.

“A minority, and on top of them, a number of countries that assume themselves more rightful … allow themselves to interfere in the affairs of all nations across the world and plunder the wealth, culture and dignity of nations,” he added.

The Iranian chief executive pointed out that the world powers extend their military presence in the Middle East in an attempt to maintain their own hegemonic interests, noting that the cost of such military adventurism is imposed on the poor nations under the pretext of safeguarding regional security.

“Accordingly, they ink multi-billion-dollar agreements and loot the energy, oil, wealth and existence of the nations, whereas they are the major cause of insecurity themselves,” he added.

Ahmadinejad made reference to the West’s hostile policies towards Iran, and argued, “The Iranian nation has not accepted these tyrannical equations,” and asserted that “we want to stand on our own feet, not to bully anyone and not be yield to tyranny; so they (the West) are disgruntled by this.”

The Iranian president also downplayed the sanctions against Iran’s energy sector and noted that Tehran owns an adequate foreign currency reserve that will sustain the country’s economic welfare, “even if Iran does not sell a barrel of crude for three years.”

The Great Satan United States, zionist Israel and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program.

The US and the EU have used the pretext to impose international and unilateral sanctions against Iran.

On January 23, EU Foreign Ministers met in Belgium and approved new sanctions against Iran aimed at banning member countries from importing Iranian crude oil and carrying out transactions with its central bank.

The EU’s decision followed the imposition of similar sanctions by Washington on Iranian energy and financial sectors on New Year’s Eve.
