President Assad Calls on Military Reserve to Join Army in Aleppo

The Arabic language al-Alam new network reported that the Syrian president has called on the reserve force to join the country’s army for the first time after the Yom Kippur War (also Ramadan War or October War) against Israel which occurred from October 6, 1973 till October 26, 1973.

Al-Alam added that the reserve force will be dispatched to the Eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo city that are now under the control of the government forces.

Yom Kippur or Battle of Arabs and Israel took place between Syria and Egypt backed up by several Arab States with Israel.

A military source disclosed on Monday that a number of militants that had called for evacuation from Aleppo’s Eastern neighborhoods decided not to go to Idlib and turned themselves in to the Syrian Army troops to stay in government-controlled regions.

The source said that while over 3,400 militants surrendered to the army men in Aleppo, a number of militants and their families rejected relocation to militant-held regions in Idlib province and surrendered to the government officials at al-Ramouseh passageway.

The source further added that government officials studied requests of the militants and their families at al-Ramouseh and granted them amnesty, transferring them to a center in Jibrin in Aleppo city.

The Russian General Staff announced that over 3,400 terrorists surrendered themselves to the Syrian authorities since the beginning of the military operations in the city of Aleppo.

“A total number of 3,406 militants of the so-called moderate opposition groups have surrendered during the liberation of Eastern Aleppo, and over 3,000 of them have been pardoned,” Chief of the Russian General Staff Main Operational Directorate Sergei Rudskoy said.

General Rudskoy added that some 108,000 civilians who had not been allowed by militants to leave Eastern Aleppo, are currently in shelters, while only the Syrian government and Russia are providing them with humanitarian aid.
