President: Claims of Iran hiding enrichment evidence, sheer lies

President Hassan Rouhani said that claims of Iran covering up facts about its nuclear enrichment activities are sheer lies.

He made the remarks here on Monday while addressing a gathering to mark National Engineers Day.

He said the reason why his government has been successful in carrying out any projects it embarked on is the support it has continuously received from the nation and the Supreme Leader.

He said the claims that Iran has been hiding its enrichment program is a big lie because there were no reason to go to Europeans to start this program if it wanted to hide it from the world.

The president said Iran sought enrichment technology only to serve its peaceful purposes and also to find a new source of energy.

He noted that Iran has wasted its time in doing talks with the western countries because they only offered promises but never did anything at the end.

Iran, Rouhani added, even was in talks with Russia for quite a time and received some technologies but they refused to provide the enrichment technology to Iran.

He said Iran talked with Chinese as well.

‘What does hiding facts mean? We talked to the world, they each had something to say as an excuse. Finally, we embarked on the job by ourselves.’

The first time I talked to a young engineer who believed Iran could produce centrifuges, Rouhani added, even the veteran figures in the field refused to believe him, saying that Iran could by no means do that.

He referred to a remarkable portion of Iran’s significant achievements in space sciences and said they are samples of what skilled Iranian engineers have accomplished for the country.

The president pointed to launching of a new satellite by Iran as another step forward in space sciences and said he never doubted that the nation had a much more brilliant performance than the government in many areas.

In solving such problems as air pollution and water shortage, too, the country calls for the assistance of highly-skilled Iranian engineers, President Rouhani stressed.

He urged all Iranian engineers regardless of their political affiliations to join hands to help diplomats who are in combat with world’s biggest powers in the field of nuclear negotiations.

President Rouhani said history will stand witness to the fact on that Iran has nothing less the rest of world, that it is a zealous warrior and also emerges victorious from the battlefield.

He said the same way that Iranian diplomats are utterly triumphant in their nuclear negotiations – whether they are winners or not – Iranian engineers too are sources of honor for the country whether they are in Fordo, Isfahan or any other place.

Turning to the economic achievements of his government, he said while the inflation point was 5.5 last year this month, it is a solid zero for the month of Bahman (ended Feb 19, 2015)
